See Yourself In A Whole New Light With Our Intraoral Cameras

SPRINGFIELD, MISSOURI – Barnett-Davis Dental Group has used intraoral cameras for more than 20 years as an easy, safe way to show patients exactly what is going on in their mouths.

Dental intraoral cameras are tiny digital cameras that fit comfortably in a patient’s mouth and enable Drs. Marc and Kelly Barnett and Dr. Tracy Davis the ability to show the patient an enlarged image of his or her smile and individual teeth on a computer screen. These sharp, clear images provide the patient with ideal visual communication for the diagnosis, treatment and personalized dental care.

“Before intraoral cameras, it was very difficult for patients to observe everything inside their own mouths,” says Dr. Kelly Barnett, a Springfield MO dentist since 1984. “Besides the mouth being dark, the tongue and the cheeks always tend to get in the way.”

While the patient is reclined and relaxed in the dental chair, we use a tiny, sterile, wand-shaped camera inside the mouth to take pictures and record video. The images are enlarged on a computer and transmitted to a TV screen to show the patient and the dentist high-definition, color pictures of the inside of the patient’s mouth with detail of their teeth and gums.

“The patient gets to see areas that were once just visible to dental professionals,” says Dr. Davis. “Being able to show a patient exactly where they have a dental issue makes all the difference when explaining a problem or procedure.”

Many difficult to detect dental diseases are easy to discover using this cutting-edge technology, including defective or worn-out fillings, bleeding gums, ill-fitting dental bridges, plaque, decay and oral lesions. The camera is painless and does not require any radiation exposure, which is a huge benefit for patients.

“The images produced by this technology have made the intraoral camera an invaluable diagnostic tool and our patients appreciate being able to be a part of the problem-solving process,” says Dr. Marc Barnett.

In addition to being able to analyze potential tooth problems in a whole new way, this changes preventive dental care too. We can show patients areas we find during their professional teeth cleaning that they may be missing during routine oral care and correct brushing and flossing techniques. Videos and still images can be kept in patients’ computerized charts for future reference and to show progress.

“We pride ourselves in incorporating all types of state-of-the-art technology and techniques to improve patient care, patient education and safety,” says Dr. Kelly Barnett, the professional Springfield MO lumineers provider.

Barnett-Davis was one of the first two dental offices in the Springfield area to incorporate digital computerized images to replace the old dental X-rays too. Computerized images radically reduce the amount of radiation necessary to take the radiograph and can be shown on the computer screen and enlarged and enhanced for better diagnostics and patient education.

“Our goal is to utilize the latest dental technologies and techniques available, so we are able to offer our patients’ dental care that is of the highest possible caliber,” she says.
